WITNESS  is an international organization that has worked for over 20 years with activists and human rights defenders to create and incorporate video into their advocacy work. In the past three years, we have partnered with organizations, activists, communities and social movements defending their homes and land from illegal evictions. Through this work we have developed a multimedia set of resources, the Forced Evictions Advocacy Toolkit , to support activists using video as an advocacy tool.

During this workshop we will discuss and distribute the Toolkit, as well as cover WITNESS’ methodology for strategically using video to defend human rights and advocate for change. We will review case studies and perform basic camera exercises. We will also distribute useful training materials that can be shared with other activists or community members defending their homes and lands from forced evictions.
