International mobilisation to save Boeung Kak Lake Residents from Eviction

A demonstration at the Municipality of Phnom Penh marked the start of a week of demonstrations around Asia on behalf of the embattled lakeside residents.
“Save Cambodia’s Boeung Kak Lake Residents from eviction,” chanted groups of urban poor, belong to LOCOA and Four Region Slum Network protesting in front of Cambodia and Chinese Embassies in various countries in a show of solidarity.
Philippines, Urban Poor Oppose Restoration of Anti-Squatting Law
Urban poor gathered before Congress at Quezon City, Batasan Road today to oppose House Bill 2145, This is a bill amending Republic Act no. 8368, otherwise known as the “Anti-Squatting Law Repeal Act of 1997.” With them were the Task Force Anti-Eviction group composed of Urban Poor Associates (UPA), Community Organization of the Philippine Enterprise (COPE), Community Organizers Multiversity (COM) and Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Pangligal (SALIGAN).

AMH (FSM 2011) - Réunion préliminaire du Comité Promoteur du Bangladesh 2 septembre 2010, Dhaka, BangladeshÀ l'occasion de la réunion préliminaire du Comité Promoteur du Bangladesh de l'Assemblée Mondiale des Habitants AMH/FSM Dakar, Sénégal (Dhaka à Dakar), tenue jeudi 2 septembre 2010 dans les bureaux de Shelter for the Poor, à Dhaka au Bangladesh, nous, les participants représentants différentes organisations d'habitants (organisations non-gouvernementales travaillant sur les questions du droit au logement et à la terre), nous sommes rencontrés afin de partager nos expériences sur le droit au logement ainsi que leur violations. Nos membres participants, les dirigeants des organisations des habitants, ont partagé des activités, expériences et luttes incessantes et ont discuté des défis permanents de l'approche gouvernementale des expulsions sans aucune réhabilitation.

A l’occasion de l’Assemblée des Citoyens d’Asie (ACA), tenue du 18 au 22 août 2010 à Bangalore, en Inde, nous, les participants représentant différentes organisations et réseaux d’habitants, nous sommes rencontrés afin de partager nos réponses respectives aux communautés membres concernant les expulsions, les stratégies et les alternatives présentées au gouvernement avec l’objectif final de sécuriser le terrain et le logement des familles concernées.

Cette nouvelle étape de construction de l'Assemblée Mondiale des Habitants (AMH) est accueillie du 18 au 23 août 2010 par la ville de Bangalore,en Inde, précédée par une importante avant-première le 16, soit des rencontres avec des organisations d'habitants des quartiers populaires de Delhi engagés dans la lutte contre les expulsions provoquées par les investissements des prochaines Jeux du Commonwealth.

Evicted families, especially women, residing along Road 10 in Navotas City, Metro Manila, Philippines are appealing for solidarity and support. On January 18 to 20, and then on March 4 to the present, (March 12) the Philippine Department of Public Works and Highways and the City Government of Navotas have conducted demolition operations for the purpose of widening the road. To date, the homes of some 393 families of the targeted 1,000 families have been demolished.

Cambodia: Forced Eviction of the Reak Reay Community in Phnom Penh

16 March 2009 At least 60 families living in the Reak Reay community, Tonle Bassac commune, Chamkarmon district, Phnom Penh, are facing imminent forced eviction. The families have been residing in the prime-city location since the 1990s, and have valid rights to the land under the Cambodian Land Law. The families have been resisting forced eviction attempts by Bassac Garden City and Canadia Bank since 2005. Appeal to the international solidarity
